Excellent Junior Cert results at Colaiste

The management, staff and students at Colaiste Dun iascaigh were justifiably proud of the achievements of the Junior Cert class of 2011, following the release of the exam results on Wednesday last. High grades were achieved and the vast majority of students were delighted to have achieved beyond their expectations.

The Coláiste offers a very wide range of subjects and teachers were particularly pleased with results exceeding national averages. The students now face into their senior cycle with renewed vigour and enthusiasm.

Transition year Walk from Durgarvan to Clonea

TY walked from Dungarvan along the old, now abandoned railway line to Clonea on Friday, September 7. It was great to spend time on the beach after the disastrous summer. They walked up the beach toward the Gold Coast along another abandoned rail track, passing Ballincourty light house and the Gold Coast golf course. The feet were beginning to ache as we passed the Gold Coast Hotel but the group made it another two miles back to the bus.

Grease is the Word!

Since the announcement of Grease as this year’s musical, students have been slicking back their hair and turning up their trousers in the hope of getting a part in this year’s show! Rigorous auditions were held and after much deliberation, parts were cast. As usual, the process threw up some regulars but also some surprises. The principal parts went to: Danny - Dylan Walsh; Sandy - Gemma Duggan; Rizzo - Ashley McInerny; Frenchy - Ashley Hally; Jan - Michaela Maher; Marty - Aoife Murray; Kenickie - Lorcan Blake; Doody - Kevin Farrell; Roger - Joseph Quirke; Sonny - Henry McFarlane; Patty - Caoimhe Hicky; Cheerleaders - Roisin Costigan and Nicole Sullivan; Cha-Cha - Chloe Russell; Teen-Angel - Luke Farrell; Miss Lynch - Clodagh McEniry; Vince Fontaine - Michael Glavin; Eugene - Kieran Tobin.
