Minister Alan Kelly has opened the new cycle track and footpath along the N24 Clonmel Inner Relief Road to link the business areas of Ballingarrane Science and Technology Park/Poppy Fields Retail Park to the residential areas of Heywood Road/Cashel Road.

This was funded directly by Minister Kelly under his Department’s Active Travel Town Programme.

The cost of the project was approximately €533k.

Work is underway to also extend the cycleway in future years.

He said - “I was delighted to allocate this funding to Clonmel town. It is a great cycling and walking route that is safe and links a commercial district with a large housing district.

It is fantastic for those commuting to work and is also of great use to both leisure walkers and cyclists.

I want to congratulate the local authority and thank them for working with me to deliver this project for the people of Clonmel’.
