JUVENILE ACTIVITY

U.14 Shield Football Final

Cashel King Cormacs 3-7 Clonoulty 2-6

What a night for our U.14 footballers as they collected the first silverware for the club in 2011 courtesy of a hard earned win over Clonoulty. After a disastrous start in which Cashel trailed by 1-3 to no score this game looked a step too far, but the Cashel lads had different idea and spurred on some terrific football, they managed to claw themselves right back into contention converting a goal and adding a point.

But Clonoulty added a second goal to leave the score 2-3 to 1-1 at half time. This was certainly a game of two halves as Cashel emerged transformed for the second half and took the lead with just ten minutes of the half played, a lead the team never relinquished. The manner of the victory was particularly pleasing with the entire team all worthy of mention. Well done to all the players and mentors on a great victory.

Scorers: Conn Bonnar 1-0, Adam Kennedy 1-2, Jack Tierney 1-1, Patrick Fahy 0-2, Brian Davern 0-1.

SENIOR HURLING

Our seniors finished out their West campaign with a defeat to Clonoulty. This was always going to be a tough game for the lads with players missing through injury or unavailability and to be fair they tried hard for the entire match. Clonoulty already qualified for the Semi final had far too much in the locker and ran out comprehensive winners. For Cashel its now onto the O’Riain Cup where it is hoped the panel of players can knuckle down over the coming weeks of training and maintain Senior status which is going to be a difficult task. On the night Ronan O’Donoghue, Tony Hewitt and Ross Doyle performed well for Cashel.

MUNSTER MINOR FOOTBALL FINAL

The club would like to wish every success to Gearoid Slattery and Dylan Fitzell as they go in search of Munster Glory as they face Cork in the Minor Football final this weekend. This has been a terrific year so far with a last gasp win over Kerry earning the right to face Cork in the final. Tipperary’s record in recent years against Cork makes fairly decent reading, since 2002 the sides have met on eight occasions with Tipp winning three and drawing another, so certainly room for optimism. For Gearoid and Dylan the progress through the ranks has been steady and successful. In 2010 Tipperary were crowned U.16 Football champions of Munster with both players playing integral parts in this success. The game is fixed for Fitzgerald stadium Killarney with throw in 12noon, good luck to the lads.
