Top Tipp stars receive ‘Nationalist’ awards

It was a gala occasion in Hotel Minella, Clonmel on Saturday night when South Tipperary’s top hurlers and footballers received ‘Nationalist’ Player of the Year awards.

It was a gala occasion in Hotel Minella, Clonmel on Saturday night when South Tipperary’s top hurlers and footballers received ‘Nationalist’ Player of the Year awards.

‘The Nationalist’ have been sponsoring the prestigious awards for thirty four years and are among the most coveted in Tipperary sport.

Senior hurling captain Paul Curran was voted Hurler of the Year, Peter Acheson was Footballer of the Year, Bil Maher was Young Hurler of the Year, Michael Quinlivan, Young Footballer, Conor Sweeney, Intermediate/Junior Footaller and Seamus Kennedy, Intermediate/Junior Hurler.

Former Clonmel Commercials great Liam Boland received the Hall of Fame award from ‘Nationalist’ editor Michael Heverin.
