Tipperary senior footballers will get their new season underway this Sunday when they take on Cork in the McGrath Cup quarter final.
It is a massive challenge to face for their first competitive match of 2013 for Tipperary who lost heavily to the same opposition in the McGrath Cup final last year.
To reach that final last year Tippeary enjoyed a good run in the competition defeating LIT, WIT and UCC before losing in Clonmel in the final to Cork.
The match will take place at Pairc Ui Rinn in Cork on Sunday (2pm throw in) and the referee is Sean Joy of Kerry.
Their opponents will have the benefit of having had an outing already this year. They defeated Cork IT in the previous round last Sunday by 1.15 to 0.11.
Cork started that game with just a handful of regulars and the introduction of another trior of established players at half time was enough to take Cork through to the quarter final.
