Carrick Davin GAA Club’s lotto jackpot prize hit a massive €12,750 this week.
The Club’s popular fundraising lotto draw hasn’t been won outright for a number of months.
The eagerly awaited draw for the €12,750 jackpot takes place at the Club Tuesday, January 8.
Meanwhile, the Club’s weekly bingo sessions resumed on Tuesday. Members and supporters are encouraged to support this weekly fund-raiser and social event.
The hotly contested Davin Club’s Christmas doubles snooker handicap tournament reached its conclusion on the Saturday before Christmas.
Congratulations to Stephen Walsh and Gerry Ryan, who defeated John Waters and Bisto Butler over three frames in the final, which was sponsored by Mark Fitzgerald.
Arising from the success of the doubles snooker handicap, the Club now plans to host a singles snooker handicap tournament at its clubrooms early in the New Year.
All entrants to this competition must be members of Carrick Davin GAA Club.
The yearly membership fee for the Club is only €20 and can be paid in instalments.
Davin Club member Joe Kennedy received a well deserved Maurice Davin Award at the awards’ inaugural ceremony at The Carraig Hotel on December 27.
Joe, who competed for the Davin Club up to the age of 46, won honours at junior hurling and football, intermediate and senior level and has eight South senior medals.
Joe also represented Tipperary at masters level losing an All Ireland final to Dublin.
The annual general meeting of the Davin Club’s juvenile section took place in the clubrooms on Monday, January 7 at 7.30pm. A full report on the meeting will be published in The Nationalist next week.
