Uniquely on county hurling final day the club that won the title also had a team of the past honoured.

The Loughmore Castleiney team which won the county title in 1988 were introduced between the Intermediate and Senior games by County PRO, Ger Ryan.

They were entertained at a reception in the Dome before the games and attended a dinner in their honour at the Templemore Arms Hotel afterwards.

Thanks are due to the Templemore Arms and the Tipperary Star for their sponsorship of the event and to the Loughmore Castleiney club and the organising committee for making all the arrangements to make the event such a success. One of the unique aspects of the day was the photograph of the 1988 and 2013 teams which was taken on Sunday night in the Templemore Arms. It will surely be a GAA collector’s item
