On Saturday afternoon last we took on Clonmel Og in the South Junior B final at Clonmel Sportsfield.

The game was as close contest throughout. Clonmel Og got off to the better starting scoring 1-1 in the first 10 minutes but Rovers eventually got to grip with the game and scored 1-2 in the final 20 minutes, holding Clonmel Og scoreless in that period. At half-time we led by 1-2 to 1–1.

Moyle Rovers went ahead by 1-6 to 1-1 but Clonmel Og never gave up, battled hard and came back into the game scoring three points, to leave just two points between the sides. It was a goal for Clonmel Og that gave them a one point lead which they managed to hold onto despite our best efforts.

Congrats to Clonmel Og on their win.

Well done to our panel of players, and their management team Kevin O’Connor, MJ Browne and Brendan Foley for their efforts throughout thes season

County league - Premier
division semi-final.

Despite our championship season coming to an end with defeat to J.K. Brackens in Boherlahan, we still had the league to play for. We faced Arravale Rovers in the League semi-final at New Inn on Sunday morning hoping to book a place in the decider.

We led all the way throughout the game but then two goals for Arravale Rovers in the closing stages of the game to give them a three point lead. Despite missing a goal chance we still managed to score three point to leave the sides level at full time.

In extra-time Arravale Rovers were much stronger scoring six points while we only managed to score two but again we missed goal chances. For Arravale it was their third successive game to go end in a draw and go to extra-time.

Our thanks to all the team and mentors for their efforts.

Harty Cup

Ladies Football

The minors got their championship off to a winning start over Clonmel Commercials last Saturday evening. This was a very good team performance.

Our girls got stuck in from the word go and put some early points on the board to settle the team.

Playing with the slight breeze our girls made good use of the hard won possession and converted efficiently. At half time we were comfortably ahead by 4-8 to 0-2.

Against the wind in the second half we were not as clinical and conceded four goals but ran out comfortable winners by 6-11 to 4-4.

Team; Rachael Delahunty,Leanne Ryan, Hazel Shanahan, Ciara Ryan,Gemma O’Dwyer (0-1), Aoife Power (0-1), Shania Dowling, Orla Ryan, Rosin McGrath (1-1),Aoife Cosgrave, Sarah Everard (0-4),Laura Grace (0-1),Danni di Ruzza (1-0), Megan Shanahan (2-3 ), Caroline Quirke (2-0).

We had strong reinforcements from Sinead Kenrick, Abbie Kiely, Sarah McDermott and Bronagh McGrath.

We had strong club representation on the Tipperary under 15 development squads who played in the inter-county Blitz in Mallow last Sunday.

Tipperay Minor selectors are holding county trials on Wednesday for prospective players for next year’s minor team. We encourage as many players as possible to attend.

The under 12s were at home to Carrick Swan on Monday night last. A point and a goal by Leah McGarry got us off to a great start. Against the run of play Carrick scored a goal and in a great response the puck out from our goalie Eimear McKeown went straight to Louise Norris who passed to Leah McGarry, who pointed from play.

In the second half a low drive from Sophie Delaney put the ball in the back of the Carrick net.

Our backs of Makayala O’Donnell, Sorcha O’Brien and Karen Meehan had great inter-play to ensure that Louise Norris got the ball and cleared down to the forwards, a great performance from Louise on the night.

The forwards of Alana Dowling Ellen Buckley and Erin Mitten continued to pressurise all through the match. Michelle Cronin showed great ability, one to watch for the future.

Team: Eimear McKeown, Sorcha O’Brien, Makayala O’Donnell, Karen Meehan, Louise Norris, Leah McGarry, Sophie Delaney, Ellen Buckley, Catriona Phelan, Erin Mitten, Alana Dowling, Michelle Cronin, Tara McGrath, Grainne O’Donnell, Aoibhe Browne.

The team travelled to St Mary’s last Saturday. Again we started well which resulted in a number of goals and points from play. The forward display of Alana Dowling, Ellen Buckley, Erin Mitten, Ellen Buckley and Sarah O’Connor showed great hunger for the ball winning great possession and driving forward to get very well taken scores. In the second half Moyle Rovers were well on top getting more scores from Leah McGarry and a great goal from Sophie Delaney. Sarah O’Connor was tenacious as was Alana Dowling and their work paid off with goals and points from play. The back line and goalie had a quite day, but any work that had to be done was cleaned up by Makayala O’Donnell, Karen Meehan and Sorcha O’Brien, while Claire O’Dwyer in her first match back showed that she is getting back to her best form.

Substitutes Ava Collins, Grainne O’Donnell, Tara McGrath, Michelle Cronin and Eimear McKeown were tenacious in their approach and unlucky not to be on the score sheet. This was a great team display of sharing the play and using the pitch to ensure they got scores. This was the real winner on the day.

The U12 team won well and move on to play Ballybacon next week.
