It was a busy week for our U/14 Hurlers who first beat Clerihan in a play-off to qualify for the South semi-final. This was a good performance as we had lost to the same opponents in the league stages. We then faced the Newcastle/Fr Sheehy’s combination who beat us comprehensively in our previous encounter and at half time we were in real trouble 9 points down but we rallied in the second and led by two points with two minutes to go but we conceded two frees, no complaints they were frees, and the game ended a draw. A fine performance and whatever happens in the replay (Monday September 3) they have done themselves proud with these two sterling performances.
Our U/12 hurlers will play Moyle Rovers in the South Premier end games final on Sunday, September 16 at a venue and time to be announced.
We are grouped with Skeheenarinky and Kilsheelan in the South U/21 Championship. There will be no easy games there. With Kilsheelan involved in the latter stages of the junior championship and Bill Maher captaining the Tipp minor team in the All Ireland Final we do not expect a game for at least two weeks but training continues. Best of luck to Bill Maher and the Tipperary minor hurling team on Sunday next in Croke Park.
The jackpot has now reached j8400. Last week’s numbers were 20-21-22-25. No winner and no match three so we had a lucky dip and the following eight people won j25 each. Margaret Ryan, Josh Cagney, Amy Fitzgerald, Michael Pollard, Warren O’Regan, Neil Fox, Sharon Lonergan, Brigid Dalton
Ciarán did us proud again last weekend when he played in goal for the Tipperary U/14 Hurling team in the Tony Forristal/ Sonny Walsh tournament in Waterford . They were unlucky to lose at the semi-final stage but Ciaran performed extremely well and deserves all our praise as he has worked really hard to get to this level and the future looks bright for this young man.
