All Ireland hurling champions Tipperary got the new championship campaign off to a winning start with victory over Cork in the first round of the Munster championship at Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday.
It was sweet revenge for Tipp following defeat to Cork at the same stage last year. However Tipp recovered from that setback to go on and win the All Ireland.
First half goals from Lar Corbett and Eoin Kelly had Tipp ahead at half time before 31,000 supporters but although the Leesiders fought back to draw level in the second half, Tipperary finished stronger and a third goal from sub Benny Dunne sealed victory and a semi-final date with Clare.
