Kickhams 3-11 Clonoulty-Rossmore 2-4

The scoreline may suggest that Kickhams were much too good for Clonoulty-Rossmore in the Gleeson Concrete junior hurling A championship game, played at Sean Treacy Park on Saturday evening. However, it doesn’t take into consideration the fourteen wides the losers hit in the course of the match. Had half of these been on target the result might have been much different.

Kickhams fielded a strong looking line up with a wealth of experience in most positions. This proved vital in the final outcome as any time that the Clonoulty lads threatened to get into the game, scores were taken at the other end to keep the lead ticking over.

The halftime score was Kickhams 1-8 Clonoulty Rossmore 1-2. Two goals mid way through the second half killed this game as a contest and Kickhams were deserving winners on the score 3-11 to 2-4.
