On Monday last Cashel’s second U12 team took on Aherlow in Leahy Park. On a cold evening the team from the Glen came out and meant business right from the start and aided by the breeze raced into a commanding early lead. The pressure continued as their scores came quick and fast to leave them in total control at halftime. A big effort was needed from Cashel to stem the tide in the second half and in fairness the lads improved their game. But it was not enough as Aherlow ran out convincing winners. It’s a case of keeping the chins up, continue training hard for this group and take on the remaining games and hopefully pick a few wins along the way.

The A and D teams headed off to Tipperary Town to tackle the mighty Rovers. The D team were first into action but faced a determined Arravale side and lost out in the finish. The team however gave it everything and for a side so young they certainly have bright futures ahead. On the night, Ross Minogue, Ronan Connolly, Herman O’Donoghue and Alex Dunne caught the eye.

The “A” team were next into the fray and the team were hoping to put last week’s defeat to Galtee firmly behind them and this they did. An early Aaron Moloney goal settled his team but the Rovers came back. The game was always close and going into the second half only a score separated the sides. Cashel couldn’t shake their opponents off and a few fortunate frees saw the home side establish a slender lead in the closing minutes. Try as they might Cashel couldn’t peg the deficit back and lost out on a score line of 3-07 to 2-06. This was a huge improvement from the lads and hopefully the team can muster up some more when they take on Clonoulty in the round 3. On the night, Aaron Moloney, Daniel Moloney and Kevin Gayson-Molloy were to the fore.
