Pride of place this week goes to our fabulous under 12 team who were worthy winners at the St Mary’s Blitz last Saturday morning.
The first game was against Carrick Swan, the team co-ordinated well, with mid field keeping plenty of ball into the forwards, to get many scores. The skills developed at training were evident as the the pick and puck of the ball was first class.
Leah McGarry and Catriona picking some beautiful points and goals. Claire O’Dwyer crossed a lovely pass to Leah McGarry soored a great goal. The back line played well using their hand passing and team play to clear their lines, Lousie and Makayala and Sorocha O’Brien played well together. Makayala and Louise first touch was commendable.
Against Fethard centre field were commanding play with Yasmin Quirke and Sophie Delaney applying pressure. Erin Mitten passed a great ball to Leah McGarry who made space and struck the ball to the net. Catriona Phelan and Alana Dowling were excellent in the forwards especially their movement off the ball which enhanced their positioning for scores. Yasmin Quirke lined herself up for a free and one could only say reminiscent of Michael Cleary goal in 1991 for the Tipp Senior Hurlers, a strike that ended up in the back of the net, a great goal. Claire Dwyer played very well in goal with consistent long puck outs and agility to move off the line when needed. Erin Mitten and Sophie Delaney were tenacious in keeping the ball and ensuring cross field passing, to the forwards good ground hurling and also mixing their game by picking and driving the ball forward, positioning of many of the players and keeping their lines was clear to see again players combining on team play wel.
St Mary’s was our last game. The town team started well with an opportunistic goal. Leah replying with a point for Moyle Rovers. This game proved difficult to get the ball into the forwards. St Mary’s were very strong in their attempts to break through to our back line. Louise Norris was commanding the back line aided by Makayala O’Donnell. Claire Dwyer was quick to get off her line and clear out to the centre when needed a steadying force in the goal a position for the future. Leah, Catriona and Alana, again combined to score two great goals to get Moyle Rovers ahead. The centre field display of Sophie and Erin in this match was commendable to continue to be first to the ball and make tackles count, the consistency to keep the ball moving to her forwards and centre field partners, assisted in the turnaround of being a goal down to assistance in releasing Leah McGarry to give us a display of her agility and skill in scoring and team play performance.

Minors campaign off to a winning start.
Our Minor footballers took on Anner Gaels on Saturday in Cahir in their first fixture of the South Minor ‘A’ Championship. It was a very slow and close contest in the first half with the half time score 0-4 each. However with some great performances from the likes of Luke Boland, Stephen Quirke and Alex Sheehan we pulled away in the second half to win comfortably in the end. Our goal came from Ian McGrath.
Final Scóre Moyle Rovers 1-12 Anner Gael 0-6.
In a County Adult Football League Premier Division Group 2 game played on Sunday last in Clonmel Sportsfield we eventually got the better of Clonmel Commercials to win by 0-13 to 0-10.
Rovers were slow to start and our performance in the first half was well under par. At half-time we trailed by six points on a scoreline 0-10 to 0-4. A much improved performance after the break saw up dominate. We succeeded in holding Commercials scoreless and tagged on enough points to win by three points at the final whistle. Aaron Kelly, Sean Keating and Peter Acheson were to the fore for Rovers.
