Sean Treacys had an unexpected victory over Clonoulty-Rossmore 0-15 to 0-13 in the quarter-final of the Bertie’s Bar Crosco Cup at Kilcommon on Tuesday night of last week. Sean Treacys raced into a three-point lead in the opening five minutes. However, they gave away a number of frees and were punished severely by Thomas Lyng, who was missing nothing from any reasonable distance. At half-time Sean Treacys led by 0-9 to 0-6.
Clonoulty-Rossmore were the stronger side during the third quarter and had drawn level by the twentieth minute when the score stood at 0-12 each. But it was Treacys who finished the better with three points to Clonoulty’s one and victory by 0-15 to 0-13.
Sean Treacys got good performances from Tom Ryan, Declan Hickey, Liam Nolan, Sean Hickey and Seamus Costello,while Clonoulty-Rossmore were best served by Thomas Lyng, Paul Hayes, Ciaran Carroll and Anthony Kearney.
