The U16 hurlers enjoyed a good win over Clerihan in a high scoring game in Ned Hall Park on Monday 12.
We led by 3.8 to 1.8 at half time and maintained our scoring rate in the second half to win by 6.15 to 4.11. This was an impressive display by our boys, with a number of stand outs including Ross Lyons, Ciarán Barrett, Damon Gregory, Philly Lambe and Cody O’Regan. Conor Hayde made a welcome return to the field whilst Justin Dowling impressed in the second half. There is a lot of potential and character in this team, well done boys!
Hard luck to the U12 hurlers who were narrowly beaten in the final of the South End Games on Monday 12 in Cahir on a scoreline of 2.5 to 2.7. This was a tremendous game of hurling and when you consider that this team went from playing in the D grade in 2012 to the A grade in the space of 12 months, it makes their progress all the more remarkable. We now turn our attention to the remaining games in the South Championship
The U14 hurlers played out another high scoring draw, this time away to St. Pats on Thursday 15. We now look forward to a semi final game against Fethard. The last two matches between these teams have been high scoring close affairs so the semi should be a cracker. Fethard will start as favourites but we have an excellent chance if we can tighten up defensively a small bit.
The junior B footballers received a walkover from Ballyporeen in their third match and these two points should be enough to secure a knock out spot
On Thursday night (August 15th) our U-12 girls played Clerihan in the Summer League. Following a disastrous first half which saw the girls trail by 5-1 to 0-3 the girls played a great second half to close the gap to just a couple of points with excellent goals from Emma Murphy and Caitlin McVicker. The girls play Fethard at home next Thursday night at 8pm.
Team: Clara Coffee, Katie O’Meara, Deirbhile de Faoite, Alli Gavin, Leah Hickey, Emma Murphy, Erin Ryan, Aisling Cunningham, Tamara Davis, Alix Mellorick, Caitlin Mc Vicker, Emily O’ Connell, Rachel Stafford, Kelly Jones, Áine Grace.
Our senior footballers were defeated by Eire Og Annacarty in their final County Group game on Friday last.
