Following on from their historic record of winning three county titles at the Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol Hurling and Camogie Finals in Semple Stadium in June, Thomastown National School continued on their winning ways in the recent Gaelic Football and Ladies Football Cumann na mBunscol County Finals.
The school completed another treble, this time winning the Under 11 Ladies Football, Under 11 Gaelic Football and Under 13 Gaelic Football county titles.
The Under 11 Ladies Football team defeated Cloneen NS, Upperchurch NS, Donaskeigh NS and Corville NS in Drombane. Another piece of history was created on the way as this was the first ever ladies football county title for the school.
The next team up were the Under 11 Gaelic Football team who defeated Corville NS from Roscrea in a thrilling decider in Littleton.
It was then left to the Under 13 Gaelic Football team to try and complete the final leg of the treble and they certainly didn’t disappoint. They were made to battle to the very end by a gallant Borrisoleigh NS team in The Ragg but Thomastown NS were not to be denied on the day.
Congratulations to all the pupils who represent the school with such pride and distinction and indeed many of the pupils have now won multiple county titles for their efforts.
Well done to the teachers, trainers, parents and the local clubs who give their time so freely when it comes to training these young players.
It is undoubtedly an incredibly successful period in the school’s history with nine Tipperary Cumann na mBunscol county titles secured in the past three years. Thomastown Abú.
