At the recent club AGM the following officers were elected:
Chairman: Brian White, Secretary: Brian Tyrrell, Treasurer: George Barry, PRO: Ned Brophy, Development Officer: Tom O Ceallaigh. We wish the officers and committee every success in the coming year.
Under 21: The under 21 championship will be commencing in the coming weeks and all players are asked to attend training in preparation for the championship.
Last Man Standing
Eoin Leahy and Greg Henry decided to share the winning stake in the club’s Last Man Standing competition as they saw off all other competitors. Well done to them and thanks to all who took part. It is hoped to run this competition again in the coming weeks.
New Playing Rules
As of January 1 the new rules of Gaelic Football are in operation. Whatever the pros and cons of these rules players and mentors have to adapt and play accordingly. All managers and players are advised to get used to the rule changes as quickly as possible.
Also on January 1 mouth guards also became compulsory for all players. It is vital that all players are absolutely aware that with the introduction of this rule there are serious insurance implications attached. A dental injury sustained in training by a player not wearing a mouth guard will not be covered by insurance and the player will be fully liable for any costs incurred.
Commercials/St.Mary’s Lotto: The lotto draw took place in Mulcahy’s on Sunday night. There was no winner of the €2,200 jackpot.
