King Cormac’s footballers need to re-group and show potential

Cashel KC 2-5 Golden 2-15

Our U21s suffered a heavy defeat to Golden in the opening round of the championship on Sunday last. Hopes were high leading into the game and a Dylan Fitzell point in the opening minute had Cashel off to a flyer. But Golden soon found their rhythm and stormed into five point lead and only for some heroic Gearoid Slattery goalkeeping they could have been out of sight.

Cashel tried but Golden kept knocking the scores over and enjoyed a decent half time lead 1-9 to 0-3. Cashel re-shuffled the pack and though they did improve on the first half showing they never got within a 7-point deficit. Two-second half goals from Eoghan Ryan and Simon Delaney did put a better look on the scoreboard but only for some heroic defending things could have been a lot worse.

The team will need to re-group fast with Aherlow Gaels our next opposition next Sunday. This display must be put to bed quickly and hopefully the lads can show their true potential that saw them capture West U21 glory last season. A win next weekend would be massive for the panel.

Best for Cashel were, Paddy Morrissey, Jonathan Grogan and Andrew Wallace.
