Season steps up a gear for Rosegreen GAA

It’s that time of year again when the activity within the club steps up a gear.

It’s that time of year again when the activity within the club steps up a gear.

Our U21 football team, amalgamated with Rockwell Rovers, suffered a two point defeat at the hands of Eire Og on Saturday night last. This was a very entertaining game of football which could have gone our way. Eire Og scored a fortuitous goal late in the second half which clenched the victory. The combo will play the second round of the league in two weeks time and hopefully can register a win. Thanks to the players and management for all their
efforts.

Senior Teams

The adult teams held a players meeting in the community hall last Saturday evening. This was well attended and a wide range of issues and topics were addressed. Training will commence shortly for the adult hurling and football teams.

Pakie Hallissey remains on as the coach for the 2013 season and his selectors are Donal Coman, Pat Cummins, Ritchie Corcoran and John O’Grady. Hopefully the boys will successfully retain the West Junior B hurling title and add the Junior A football title as well. Best of luck to all concerned.

Club membership is now due. The rates for this years membership are as follows: Players E50, non players E30, students E30. All players must be paid up members prior to training commencing. The Club would like to encourage the members of the community to subscribe to the membership of our Club. All monies can be paid to Jack Bourke, Club Treasurer 0872385278.

The ticket holder must pick a horse for the first four races each day on the first four days of the racing festival. Points will be awarded for the first four home and the winner will be the one with most points accumulated over the
four days.

There is substantial prize money on offer so please try to join this novel venture. Tickets can be purchased from John Costello 0868383732 or John O’Grady 0877943772 or any committee member.

Juvenile

Our Juvenile teams are back on the training fields again. All age groups have been given their designated training nights and parents are asked to have their children there on time and to collect them once training has finished. Juvenile membership forms and subscription are now due. Please bring them to training and give to the designated coaches.

Best wishes to all the juvenile teams and coaches for the up-coming season. The Club captured five titles last year so here’s hoping that number will be surpassed in the 2013 season.
