Tipperary under 21 footballers recorded an historic win over Mayo on Sunday to win the Hastings Shield.
It was a hugely impressive display in Longford to edge home by two points, 2-10 to 2-8.
Tipp had performed well in the Hasting Cup competition in recent weeks before losing to a very strong Meath side.
But they rediscovered their best form in the Shield final to overcome a fancied Mayo side whose senior team have reached the last two All Ireland finals.
Manager David Power will hope to see the side maintain the form into the championship while senior boss Peter Creedon will be keen to see how many of the side can play a role in Tipperary’s National Football League campaign.
