ALLIANZ HURLING LEAGUE
Tipperary play Kilkenny in round 2 of the Allianz Hurling League Division 1 at Semple Stadium on Sunday next March 10 at 2pm. This will be the 63rd league encounter between these great rivals with Tipperary having won 30, Kilkenny 26 and 6 draws. A total of 24 games have been played at Thurles with Tipperary winning 12, Kilkenny 10 and 2 draws. Kilkenny have won the last two meetings with Tipperaryâ€™s last victory being in 2010 at Semple Stadium by 1-14 to 0-13 on March 7 after two previous attempts to play the game were snowed off. Michael Wadding of Waterford will referee Sundayâ€™s game and he has refereed three previous Tipperary v Kilkenny Allianz Hurling League games â€“ 2003 (2nd phase) in Nowlan Park, 2006 (Group), at Semple Stadium and 2012 (Group), at Nowlan Park. Kilkenny won all three games. Tipperary were winners, when he took charge of the 2010 All Ireland Final. Both stands will be open for Sundayâ€™s game.

Well done to the Tipperary footballers who secured their first league points by defeating London by 2-12 to 1-7 at Semple Stadium in front of a disappointingly small attendance. Their next game is on Saturday next, March 9, against Clare at 2pm in Cusack Park, Ennis.

EVER ALL COUNTY TABLE QUIZ
Tipperary County GAA Board are targeting 1,000 tables in the local heats of their all county table quiz being held on Friday March 15. On that night Fran Curry will call out the questions live on Tipp Fm to thousands of quiz enthusiasts all over the county who will convene in their local venues. Participants must be seated at 9pm to be ready for the first round of questions on Tipp Fm. The questions are on general knowledge and it costs â‚¬40 per table. All individual â‚¬10 entries will be entered in a special draw to be held on Co Final night with an All Ireland Weekend plus match tickets as first prize and a runner up prize of 2 Tipp Club Season tickets. Local winners from the heats will go forward to the Grand County Final being held in The Dome, Semple Stadium on Thurs March 28th where the outright winning table will receive 4 tickets to New York. Clubs must have a minimum of 5 tables to send forward a winning team to the county final with the added incentive if they get over 15 tables they can send forward 2 winners and 3 for over 25. All clubs are encouraged to support this important fund raising venture. It is also hoped to stage the quiz in venues in Dublin, Limerick and Kilkenny. MUNSTER UNDER 21
The under 21 footballers will be Tipperaryâ€™s first representatives to see action in the 2013 Munster championships when they take on Waterford in the quarter-final at Semple Stadium on Wednesday, March 13 at 7.30pm. We wish them every success and would encourage as many as possible to come and support this talented group of footballers who have prepared diligently under Manager, David Power, selectors, Gerry McGill and Pat Moroney and strength and conditioning coach, Richard Kennedy.
Congratulations to UCC, managed by former Thurles Sarsfields and Tipperary player, Eddie Enright, on retaining the Fitzgibbon Cup colleges hurling title with a victory over first time finalists Mary Immaculate College Limerick in Galway last Saturday. Well done also to the Tipperary players on the UCC panel - Stephen Maher (Thurles Sarsfields), Bobby Bergin (Clonakenny), Liam Butler (Moyne Templetouhy), James Barry (Upperchurch Drombane), Dan McCormack (Borris-Ileigh) and Pat Lupton (Drom and Inch).
Congratulations are also due to two Tipperary colleges LIT Tipperary and St. Partickâ€™s College Thurles. LIT Tipperary won the Ryan Cup by defeating Tralee IT by 1-14 to 2-9. They are managed by Tipperary senior hurler, Brendan Maher of Borris-Ileigh. In the Fergal Meagher Cup, St. Patrickâ€™s College Thurles defeated St. Maryâ€™s Belfast by 4-19 to 1-7.
INTER-PROVINCIAL HURLING FINAL
Congratulations to Munster on winning the M. Donnelly Inter-provincial hurling final by defeating Connaught by 1-22 to 0-15 at Cusack Park Ennis on Sunday. Munster were managed by Liam Sheedy and Brendan Maher captained the side in place of the injured Shane McGrath. Other Tipperary players on Sundayâ€™s panel were: Lar Corbett, Patrick Maher, Brian Oâ€™Meara, Pa Bourke, Paul Curran and Eoin Kelly.
Tipperary members of the backroom team were: John Casey (chartered physiotherapist), Mick Clohessy (masseur), John â€œHotpointâ€ Hayes (kit man) and Ed Donnelly (match stats).
The sponsorship of Clareâ€™s Martin Donnelly should also be acknowledged â€“ he is a great supporter of the GAA.
TIPPERARY CLUBS DRAW
The big winners in last Friday nightâ€™s Tipperary clubs draw in The Corner Stone Lounge Golden were Francis Oâ€™Leary of Ardfinnan (sold by Ballybacon Grange GAA) who won a Skoda Octavia or â‚¬15,000 and Catherine Kennedy of Borrisoleigh (sold by Borris-Ileigh GAA) who won a Skoda Fabia or â‚¬10,000. Thanks to Golden Kilfeacle GAA for hosting the draw.
TIPPERARY COACHING AND GAMES DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
Tipperary Coaching and Games Development Committee will host a conference entitled Preparing the Adult Club Team â€“ â€œThe Games Based Approachâ€ on Saturdaty in Thurles Sarsfields Clubhouse. The Conference will discuss topics directly related to preparing the adult club player. Presentations will be include Managing the Adult Club Player, The Club Players needs from a players perspective, the Club Footballers needs, Developing the Games Based Approach, Practical on field sessions to display best practice in the Games Based Approach. Eamonn Oâ€™Shea, Tipperary Senior Hurling Manager; Shane Ronayne, Cahir Senior Football Coach; Ken Dunne, Toomevara; Paudie Butler, National Coach Education Tutor and Paudie Oâ€™Neill, Tipperary Senior Hurling Coach will be among a panel of speakers who will be in attendance on the day. Clubs are invited to send Adult Club Managers and Coaches i.e. from Under 21 to adult.
The conference will commence at 9.45 a.m. and participants are asked to be present for 9.30 a.m. A fee of â‚¬50 per club will apply to cover cost.

TIPPERARY V KILKENNY
UNDER 21 CHALLENGE
Ken Hoganâ€™s Tipperary Under 21 side will play Richie Mulrooneyâ€™s Kilkenny in a Challenge match on Wednesday March 20 in Ballyragget. The throw-in is 7.30pm and the game will be refereed by Eamon Mansfield. Admission on the night is â‚¬5 and all proceeds go to the Kilkenny C.B.S Pitch Improvement scheme. The same counties met in a similar match 12 months ago at the same venue and served up a cracking contest with Tipperary prevailing by a point. A large turnout would be greatly appreciated.
Among the promoters are Kilkenny CBS teacher, Paul Oâ€™Donoghue of Cashel who is one of the leading lights in that great bastion of Tipperary support in Kilkenny, the Sliabh na mBan Association.
Tipperary GAA is hosting a major event for the Gathering on the weekend of June 8 and 9 2013. It hopes that as many as possible former Tipperary hurlers and footballers who represented the county at any grade who now reside abroad will return to Tipperary that weekend for a series of events in their honour. It is hoped to host a welcome event on Saturday June 8 and to bring all the former players to the Tipperary v Limerick senior hurling championship game in Limerick on Sunday June 9.

GAA ANNUAL CONGRESS
The GAA Annual Congress will take place in Derry on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. 73 motions in total will come before delegates and be voted on at Annual Congress. For details on all motions, please visit the GAA website, www.gaa.ie, where a copy of the Ard StiÃºrthÃ³irâ€™s Annual Report can also be found. The motions have been circulated to all clubs for their consideration.
