With the inter county football coming to a conclusion last weekend we now have only one big ball showdown left on the programme.

Due to a variety of circumstances outside the control of the Bórd, major disturbances were experienced in our effort to bring the final curtain down on our football championship. The final of the U-16 A between Newport and Clonmel Commercials is scheduled to take place in Dundrum on Saturday August 10 at 12am.

August is the month when all our county hurling teams will be in action.

Our U-14 hurlers will be participating in the Tony Forristal/Sonny Walsh tournaments in Waterford, while our U-15s travel down to Carrigaline to battle in the Cork tournament

Tipperary hosts the U-16 tournaments and this year a major change has been imposed upon us resulting from a ruling from Croke Park. For the past quarter of a century all our league rounds and semi finals took place on Saturday with the finals being staged on Sunday and due to the large number of participating counties it had worked very well. Over the past number of years our finals were played in Semple Stadium which was greatly appreciated by the finalists. However this year we are duty bound to complete the entire action on Saturday. This in turn puts a sea change to the format of our programme with the games shorter, teams having less break time and no final in the Stadium.

The games this year are being hosted within the South division within the Clonmel catchments area; the various venues will be published within the coming week or two.

We wish all our various team managements and panels all the best as they are in preparation mode.
