Tipp footballers reach McGrath Cup semi-finals

Tipperary 4-16 WIT 0-6

Tipperary’s senior footballers had an easy win over WIT at Clonmel on Sunday to qualify for the semi-finals of the McGrath Cup, where they will meet UCC at Clonmel next Sunday.

Tipp took control early on and an 8th minute goal from Barry Grogan sent them on their way to a landslide victory.

Another Barry Grogan goal four minutes later helped them into a 2-8 to 0-3 lead at half time and the second half was a mere procession for the home team.

Grogan was top scorer with 3-3 and their other standout performers were Philip Austin, who scored 5 points; Peter Acheson, Conor Sweeney, Paddy Codd, Andrew Morrissey and substitute Brian Mulvihill.
