Following a good performance in seeing off Arravale Rovers in last Saturday’s county senior football quarter final, focus has switched now to this Sunday’s semi-final date with Loughmore/Castleisney. This game has been fixed for Cashel at 2.30pm.
While Saturday was a good performance and we fully deserved our victory, the semi-final marks a further step up for the team. Old rivals Loughmore have some of the best footballers in the county and when they get to this stage of the year they are very difficult opponents indeed. With the work put in during the year hopes are high that we can overcome this obstacle and reach a county final. We wish all involved the best wishes of the entire club.
Minors: On Saturday after 14 weeks of inactivity at this level the minors play Aherlow/Lattin in the County semi-final in Cahir. Having won the South title on July 20 finally the team take the field once again to face the West champions on Saturday. Preparations have been difficult but recent weeks have shown an improvement and the selectors are hoping that enough has been done to reach the county final. We wish the panel and selectors best wishes on Saturday.
Originally fixed for Monday the county minor semi-final has been moved to accomodate the final of The Darell Darcy Tournament. It is a pity that the club game once again is pushed to one side in favour of inter county activity but this is the general way the GAA moves and despite the importance of the club that is so often spoken about by the leading lights of the association the ordinary club player must always give way to county teams.
Club Annual: The club is in the process of publishing our first Christmas Annual which will be published on December 6. All team mentors have been contacted to submit a brief report on the year to date from the various teams and we would remind them that this Friday (26) is the deadline for inclusion. Unfortunately if the team manager doesn’t get in a report by Friday then their team will not be included which will be very disappointing for the players involved. This promises to be an excellent production. If anyone wishes to have something included please submit to Ned Brophy at email@example.com by Friday .
