Clonmel Og GAA

Our U/21 Hurlers defeated Cahir in the South semi-final with a really good performance. It was a game which we controlled and never looked like losing against a very useful opponent. Goals from Cian Hogan, Conor Arrigan and some great performances from Graham Quinn, Aaron Arrigan, and Stevie O’Connell, Marc Ahearne, Dean Kelleher and Matthew Norris saw us prevail on a score line of 2-13 to 1-7.

The following Sunday we travelled to play Skeheenarinky in the final in Cahir. In the league stages they had beaten us comprehensively but we started the final well and were two points up in the first two minutes but we lost our way after that and found ourselves 10 points down at the break and reduced to 14 men after the dismissal of Dean Kelleher our scorer in chief in the first half.

The sending off of Dean and his Skeheen opponent was extremely harsh. During the second half we found ourselves 12 points down and very much playing second fiddle to our opponents but we made a superb comeback and reduced the lead to just three points thanks to goals from Marc Ahearne and a beauty from Graham Quinn plus some fine points from Matthew Norris. The unlikely now looked possible but the award of a free to Skeheenarinky when there was no doubt it should have been to us saw our chances diminish and a point from the resultant free and an injury time goal saw the title go to Skeheenarinky. While disappointed at losing and some of the vital decisions that went against us there is no doubt that Skeheenarinky were deserving winners and we in Clonmel Óg congratulate them on their success.

U/12 Hurling

We were beaten by Ballingarry in the final of the Carrigeen Hurling tournament. The lads played really well but in the end had to give way to a good Ballingarry side who were graded two divisions higher in the South Championship. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for giving us such a great year.
