Under 21s bow out:

Our under 21 footballers’ campaign came to an end on Saturday afternoon last with defeat to Ardfinnan at Ned Hall Park on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-9.

We were always going to be up against it facing a strong Ardfinnan side and our cause wasn’t helped by a few late injuries before the game. We battled bravely and even led by 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time. Ten minutes into the second half we were still 9-7 ahead. However, Ardfinnan grew in strength and took control in the final quarter as a young Rovers side tired. In the last 20 minutes we failed to score while Ardfinnan added seven points.

On the day we had some good performances from Eoin O’Connor, Michael Delahunty, Rian Clancy, Craig Condon and scorer-in-chief Liam Boland who accounted for eight of our nine scores. Therein lay our biggest problem on the day.

Moyle Rovers lined out as follows: James Cahill, David Mulcahy, Eoin O’Connor, Michael Delahunty, Luke Boland, Ross Mulcahy, Rian Clancy, Philip Quirke, Craig Condon, Shane Lonergan, Liam Boland, Aidan McGrath, Conor Conneally, Padraig Keating, Rian Boland. Subs: Kevin O’Donnell, Shane Norris.

Sincere thanks to Robbie Boland, Edmund Burke and Brian Mulvihill for their great efforts with the panel.

Premier Division:

Our Premier Division side defeated Aherlow Gaels in horrible weather conditions on Sunday by 1-3 to 0-3. A goal by Jack Lonergan two minutes from time, followed by a great save from Ian Browne secured the win.

Ladies Football:

The U16s got their championship off to a tremendous winning start last Sunday. Played in very difficult weather conditions our girls played with courage and great commitment and overcame the challenge of Mullinahone. From the throw-in Moyle Rovers went about their task with purpose and fought hard for every ball and opportunity. They were soon rewarded with some well-taken scores. The backs defended very well and midfield were on top to supply plenty of scoring chances to our lively forwards.

Our panel on the day was: Rachael Delahunty, Ciara O’Loughlin, Sarah McDermott (1-0), Derbhile Fitzgearld, Shania Dowling, Aoife Power, Clionadh Collins, Michelle McMeel, Andrea Hyland, Lorraine Williams (1-1), Evrena Everard, Megan Shanahan,(1-2), Eimear O’Donoghue (2-1), Bronagh McGrath (1-0), Chelsea Holden, Chloe Boland (2-0), Jenny Everard, Rowena Dowling, Sarah O’Dwyer.
