Following their heartening win over Kilkenny last Sunday, Tipperary senior hurlers head to Salthill on Monday to take on Galway in the third round of the league.

Tipp have enjoyed a good record against the westerners in recent years and will hope to continue that this weekend.

Sunday’s clash against Kilkenny was a ‘must win’ for Tipp and they achieved that in style - it may have been a narrow one point victory but it was the performance that stood out, with pride and passion very much to the fore.

That will be needed again on Monday against the Leinster champions and All Ireland runners up.

Galway beat Kilkenny in their opening game but lost last weekend to Clare so like Tipp are on two points.

And with Cork being held to a draw by Waterford, Tipp are only one point off the pace in the league despite the first round setback against the Leesiders.

Manager Eamon O’Shea will now hope that Tipperary can maintain the momentum picked up last Sunday and put victories back to back.
