Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Association held their first Post Primary Schools Blitz on Wednesday, May 15 in Rockwell College.
This very successful event was organised by Tony Smith, Rockwell College and Tipperary’s Development Officer, Siobhan Condon.
Thirteen schools took part in the blitz with a total of fifteen teams entered with approximately 225 players seeing game time. The games started around ten o’clock and continued throughout the day. There were six pitches available on the day with thanks to Rockwell College and each team had at least three games to play.
Quarter Finals: Cashel Community School defeated Presentation, Clonmel and Colaiste Dun Iascaigh, Cahir defeated St. Annes, Tipperary Town. Semi Finals: Ursuline Convent School, Thurles defeated Cashel Community School and Loreto School, Clonmel defeated Colaiste Dun Iascaigh, Cahir. Final: Loreto School, Clonmel defeated Ursuline School, Thurles.
B Competition - Quarter Finals: Scoil Ruain Killenaule defeated Ursuline Convent School, Thurles and St. Ailbe’s, Tipperary Town defeated CTI, Clonmel. Semi Finals: Rockwell College defeated St. Ailbe’s, Tipperary Town and Our Lady’s, Templemore defeated Scoil Ruain, Killenaule. Final: Rockwell College defeated Our Lady’s, Templemore List of Schools:- Ursuline Convent School, Thurles (2 teams), Scoil Mhuire, Carrick On Suir (2 teams), Presentation School, Clonmel (2 teams), Loreto School, Clonmel, Cashel Community School, St. Anne’s, Tipperary Town, Colaiste Dun Iascaigh, Cahir, CTI, Clonmel, Our Lady’s School, Templemore, Scoil Ruain, Killenaule, St. Ailbe’s, Tipperary Town and Rockwell College.
Tipp players on Team of the League
Tipperary players Claire Carroll and Mairead Morrissey have been named in the 2013 Tesco Homegrown National Football League Team of the League for Division 3.
Claire Carroll (Galtee Rovers) in the position of centre back and Mairead Morrissey (Moyle Rovers) in left half forward. The players will receive their awards on Thursday 30th May in Croke Park. Congratulations to both girls for a brilliant League competition.
Managers and Selectors
Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football are looking for Managers/Selectors for next year’s County Under 14, Under 16 and Minor teams. Anyone interested please contact a member of the County Board or your club delegate. Deadline date for nominations will be the June County Board Meeting.
Cailíní Óga 2013
Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Association are offering all club under 12 teams an opportunity to play at half time in the TG4 Munster Ladies Football Final on July 13th. One club team from each county will be selected. All clubs applying must have at least 2 qualified FUNdamentals coaches who are registered and active in the club. In addition one of those coaches must be involved with the club Under 12 team. Also, the application form must be accompanied by a supporting document outlining why your club should be considered for the opportunity to represent your county on Munster final day July 13th. This may be a poster, picture, poem, story, video or audio clip, but must be submitted by email. Closing Date for email applications is June 12th 2013. Annual Club 7-a-side competition
Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Association Annual Club 7-a-side competition will be held on Saturday June 8th 2013 at Mallow GAA Sports Complex, Mallow, Co. Cork. Entry forms and rules for the Competition are available on www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie. Clubs wishing to enter the competition can download the relevant entry form from www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie Clubs can enter the competition for the grade which it normally competes in within its County. Closing date for entries is Friday May 31st 2013.
