Pitch closed due to flooding

Marlfield GAA

Marlfield GAA

Due to the prolonged spell of inclement weather our main pitch has had to be closed until further notice. Persistent rain has led to flooding on many parts of the field and the sod has become badly cut up despite relatively light activity in recent times. Both members and associate members please take note. In the meantime the practice pitch will still be available,as will the jogging facility around the outside of the pitches.

Extensive renovations are presently being carried out within the clubhouse, with the dressing rooms, kitchen, refs room, showers, toilets and even the attic receiving attention. We are very fortunate that we now have the services of a TUS worker for two and a half days of every week and the benefits of this man’s expertise are already to be seen.

However, members should please take note that their assistance will still be required for the many maintenance jobs around the place, such as pitch repairs, fencing etc. So let’s all get down to it.

We have had a number of very constructive committee meetings in recent times, with in-depth discussion on how we may advance the club. Plans are being formulated to take our level of activity on to a higher plane and we look forward with confidence to receiving support from the broader community as well as from within the club itself. Finance will of course be an essential part of any expansion and one of our first ventures will be a table quiz early in the new year with other fundraisers to follow.
