The Ladies football club had a very enjoyable medal presentation last Sunday evening in Monroe.

Chairman Pat Fahey got proceedings underway and thanked all involved in making 2012 such a successful year. Medals were presented to Under 12s, 14s, Minor, and Junior winning teams. Presentations were made to the players by County Chairman Tommy Campbell and Declan Browne.

Special mention to Michelle McMeel, Shania Dowling, Evrena Everard and Bronagh McGrath who each received three county medals (under 14, Minor, Junior), surely a Club record.

Training for under 16, Junior and senior teams began last weekend. Congratulations to Sarah Everard who was a member of the Munster Post primary Schools team who retained their interprovincal crown in Mullingar last Saturday week, defeating Connaught in the final. Commiserations to our club representatives Gillian O’Brien, Barbara Ryan, Niamh Lonergan and Katie Lynn who were members of the narrowly defeated Tippeary Intermediate Team who were narrowly defeated by Waterford in the Jim Kennedy Cup Final. Also to Club representatives involved in the Team management Sean O’Donovan and Kay Lyons.

Camogie.

The Camogie Club held its first meeting of the new year. Plans were discussed for the forthcoming year. Training every Friday at 5.30pm indoors at Monroe for under 8s,10s and 12s. Camogie is a wonderful game for girls. The earlier they start the better so come along and give it a try. Registration evening will be held the following Friday. Registration for the year is €20. All welcome especially new members. Hurleys and Helmets can be ordered through the primary schools at significantly reduced prices and these must be ordered in the next few weeks.
