St Mary’s U/14s were narrowly beaten by Carrick Swans in the South final in Cloneen on Thursday last.
A tremendous effort was put in by all and we just came up short after an epic battle in extra time. The lads should be complimented for the great effort and hopefully success for this group will follow in future years. A special word of thanks to the mentors and the parents for their support throughout.
In the ongoing South Championship our lads had a convincing win against Kilsheelan Gaels in Monroe last Wednesday. Our next match in the round robin series is against local rivals Moyle Rovers. The match is due to take place in Ned Hall Park, Clonmel this Wednesday evening, September 4th, at 6.15 pm. All support would be really appreciated.
Tipperary hosted the All Ireland series for U/15s and 16s last weekend, and St. Mary’s was well represented. Ross Peters lined out for the Tipperary U/16 A’s, and they were narrowly beaten by Kilkenny in the final. Matt Barlow proudly captained the Tipperary U/16 B team, and both Gavin Ryan and Kyle Peters played with the Tipperary U/15 A team. Well done to all four in their ambassadorial role in representing their county and their club. The future is bright!
The lads had a nice win against Ballybacon/Grange in Goatenbridge last week in the South Championship. Their next match will have taken place against Killenaule by the time you read this.

The numbers drawn in the joint St. Mary’s/Commercials club lotto last Sunday were 8, 10, 11, 27. The jackpot was €2000 but, sadly, remains elusive! However, both Donal Kennedy and Anne O’Dwyer had three numbers each, and share €200 between them! Peter Egan wins the sellers prize.
Well done to our sister club, Commercials, on winning the South Senior Football Championship on Sunday last. Some of our Intermediates were part of the victorious team, including Feargal Condon, Seamus Kennedy, the Lonergan brothers, Alan and Jason, Luke Moore, Ciaran O’Connell and Jamie Peters. Well Done to all, and I hope I haven’t left anybody out!
The club extends its sympathy to the family of the late Michael Kiely, Cherrymount who died last week. Michael’s grandson, Conor, plays with St. Mary’s.
