Tipperary football received a huge boost on Sunday with promotion to Division Three of the National Football League.
The team travelled to Carrick-on-Shannon to take on Leitrim knowing that two points would lift them out of the basement division and they went about their task in sparkling fashion.
A Brian Fox goal after twelve seconds set them on their way and they added four more in a 5-16 to 0-16 victory.
The win takes the pressure off Peter Creedon’s side for their last game this Sunday at home to Wicklow.
He can also rest his under 21 players who face Cork in the Munster final on Wednesday week.
