Moyle Rovers

Great night at club social:

We had a great night at the club social held at Monroe on Saturday night last. There were medal presentations to our South intermediate footballers and county minor league footballers.

A presentation was also made on the night to legend Declan Browne marking his retirement and in appreciation of his years of service to our club and county.

On the field of play:

There were various league games palyed over the weekend.

In the Premier Division we received a walkover from JK Brackens of Templemore.

Our minors were defeated by Anner Gaels, a Fethard/St. Patrick’s combination in the county league on a scoreline of Moyle Rovers 1-8 Anner Gaels 2-11.

Elsewhere in Division 1 we had a great win over Fr Sheehy’s, winning by 4-6 to 0-5. Our goals were scored by Rian Clancy, Paudie Hartigan and Eoin Fogarty.

Hard luck to Peter Acheson who played his heart out at midfield for UCC in the Sigerson Cup final defeat to a star-studded DIT on Saturday last.

Wedding Bells:

Congratulations to Stephan Dunne and Catherine Mulcahy who were married recently. Stephen is a past captain at under age. Wishing Catherine and himself a lifetime of happiness ahead.

Five-year plan:

The club five year plan is taking great shape with a fine attendance at our last meeting. Like everything, the better you plan the better the rewards you reap at the end of the day.

Ladies Football:

The Club are holding a Table Quiz this Friday night, March 1st at 9.00pm in The Halfway. Come along for what is a great night and in the process help out the club. Tables at €20. Our Under 16s had their first run out of the season with a challenge game against Rathgormack last Sunday. On a very cold morning our girls played with great heart and commitment.

Our opening championship is against Clonmel this Sunday in the Sportsfield at 11.30 am. Best of Luck girls.

Hard luck to Loreto Clonmel on losing the Junior Munster Final in Cloughduv last Friday night. Moyle Rovers had a very strong representation on this team occupying ten of the starting positions and four players on the bench. Behind by six points at half time the Loreto rallied magnificently in the second half to draw level with less than ten minutes remaing. However it was not to be as Macroom got the winning score.

Well done to Loreto team and Management and well done to our Moyle Rovers girls who were as follows: Claire Moore, Hazel Shanahan (captain), Leanne Ryan, Shania Dowling, Aoife Power, Derbhile Fitzgearld, Evrena Everard, Megan Shanahan, Kristy Crotty-Ryan, Niamh Brennan, Michelle McMeel, Orla Burke, Ciara O’Loughlin and Eimear O’Donoghue.

Best of luck to Tipperary Under 14 team as they face Waterford in the opening game of the Championship this week end.

Good luck to our club representatives Claire Moore, Kristy Crotty Ryan, Emma Cronin, Orla Burke.
