Lowry point gives Arravale Rovers victory

Arravale Rovers moved a step closer to retaining their County U21 FC ‘A’ crown in a pulsating semi final contest in Cahir last Saturday evening against Clonmel Commercials, winning 1-9 to 0-11, and will now have to defend the title against Loughmore/Castleiney in two weeks time.

The result could have gone either way - the sides were level five times over the hour and indeed had Commercials converted any of the three scoring chances that fell to them in injury time the result might have been different. This young Commercials side, with plenty of potential, made the Rovers work hard for the victory.

The sides were tied at 1-8 to 0-11 with five minutes of ordinary time remaining and Michael Quinlivan attempted to put Commercials ahead with a minute remaining.

However his free drifted wide. Then the referee played six minutes injury time and Bryan Lowry scored the winner after three minutes of added time.
