Juvenile News

On Saturday last King Cormac’s U10’s travelled to Dr. Morris Park in Thurles for the final hurling blitz of the year. Cashel fielded two teams on nine-aside. The first group played three games, beating Nenagh, Moycarkey and drawing with Kilruane. The second group also did well beating Carrick Swans, Drom-Inch and losing to JK Brackens in the final game. An excellent mornings hurling overall in the brilliant sunshine.

All the boys welcomed the ice cream on their return to Cashel, as a thank you for their tremendous effort all through 2012.

Training continues Monday evenings and Saturdays.

Cashel KC Fun Day

It is hoped to hold our Annual Fun Day on Saturday, September 22, in Leahy Park. The event will be based around the juvenile club with age groups from U14s down to U6s taking part in day of fun and games provided by Ruth and Kate from “the Den”.

This year it is hoped more parents and adult members in the club will attend with a barbecue running throughout the day. More details will be circulated to all juvenile and adult members in the coming days. Fingers crossed for some decent weather!

West U16 Hurling Championship

Cashel’s U16s have taken the long route towards a divisional final, having lost to Clonoulty in round 1, the lads were pitted against Arravale Rovers in the losers section and having easily disposed of the Tipperary town men, they faced Lattin Cullen in the West Semi final at a wet Dundrum on Monday evening last.

Cashel made all the early running in terms of hurling but converting possession into scores was proving difficult. With fifteen played the score was 1-04 to 0-3 in favour of Cashel, Jonathan Walsh scoring 1-2 with Colin Brosnan and Colin Ryan adding points. Lattin, to be fair, stuck right in there as Cashel were finding if hard to put them away. Just before half time Colin Ryan rifled the ball to the net to leave the 2-6 to 0-6.

The second half was a committed and tight affair with neither side registering a score until the 18th minute. Lattin added three unanswered points as they tried desperately to get back into the game. An opportunistic goal form Thomas Caulfield stemmed the flow, with a James Cummins pointed free late on settled the game on a score line of Cashel KC 3-07, Lattin Cullen 0-10.

This was certainly a hard slog and Cashel will know they will need to improve if they are to become West Champions. On the night, Cormac Ryan, Adam Kennedy, Pat Muldoon, Padraig O’Donoghue, Conor Devitt and Aaron McCormack caught the eye.

Team: Danny Wade, Brian Fitzpatrick, cormac Ryan, Jack Browne, Adam Kennedy, Padraig O’Donoghue, Pat Muldoon, Conor Devitt, James Cummins (0-1), Aaron McCormack, Thomas Caulfield (1-0), Colin Brosnan (0-1), Colin Ryan (1-2), Jonathan Walsh (1-03), Patrick Fahy. Sub used; Ross Bonnar for Jonathan Walsh.

West Junior B Hurling

Cashel KC 4-20 Clonoulty 0-09

Cashel’s Junior B’s signed off their League campaign with a comfortable victory over Sean Treacy’s, clinching top spot and now await another round of games to establish who our Semi Final opponents will be. Whilst this was very comfortable the selectors and more importantly the players will not be getting ahead of themselves as Sean Treacy’s have failed to register any victory so this win should be taken on its merits. The game as a contest was over at half time with Cashel leading 3-11 to 0-4. Cashel hurled well throughout with a nasty hand injury to the impressive Robert Anglim late in the game the only sour point of the night. So all in all a good nights work with a difficult Semi Final in waiting, the panel of players will prepare as best they can over the coming weeks to ensure they are in the best possible shape.

Team: Daniel Murphy, Paddy Morrissey, David Delahunty, Christopher Ryan, Michael K O’Dwyer, Jonathan Kennedy, Gavin Browne, William Fitzell (0-4), Cathal Minogue, Robert Anglim (0-2), Philip Taylor (1-2), Gavin Manton (1-2), Michael O’Connor, Timmy Moloney (2-7), Niall Fitzgerald (0-2). Subs: Robert White for Timmy Moloney, Cormac O’Dwyer for Niall Fitzgerald & Alan Cummins for Michael O’Connor, Ruairi Ryan for David Delahunty & Owen Quirke for Daniel Murphy.
