Cahir ladies reach All 
Ireland Club Final

Last Sunday Cahir qualified for the All Ireland Intermediate Club final after defeating Newtownbutler, Fermanagh, on a score line of 5-9 to 3-4.

Last Sunday Cahir qualified for the All Ireland Intermediate Club final after defeating Newtownbutler, Fermanagh, on a score line of 5-9 to 3-4.

The girls had to make the long journey to Donagh, Fermanagh, for this game. They got of to the ideal start with an early goal from Aisling O’Connor which was soon followed by a point by Arla McEniry. Newtownbutler stared to take control and responded with a goal and a point. Cahir then added a point through Roisin Howard before Newtownbutler added a further goal 
and a point to lead by 2-2 
to 1-2.

While Newtownbutler were now in control they failed to register any further score while Cahir added 2 further points through Cliona Higgins and Kirsty Downey to leave the half time score 2-2 to 1-4.

What ever was said at half time seemed to have the desired effect as Cahir took control from the throw in. They soon had a goal by Aisling McCarthy which was quickly followed by 3 further points from Orla McEniry with 2 and Aisling Moloney. Cahir were now in control and even though Newtownbutler responded with a point Cahir added another goal by Aisling McCarthy.

Cahir were now dominant and added 2 points from Anne Marie O’Gorman and Kirsty Downey which was quickly followed by 2 goals by Aisling Moloney. With 5 minutes left Cahir led 
by 5-9 to 2-3. Newtownbutler scored a further 1-1 before the final whistle to leave the final score 5-9 to 3-4.

There were great scenes of joy when the final whistle was blown. Cahir had qualified for the All Ireland Intermediate Club Final. This was a great team effort and every girl on the panel has contributed to this historic victory. The club would like to thank all the people who made the long journey to Fermanagh to support the girls.
