With about five minutes remaining a row developed as a result of a loose stroke by a Lattin Gaels player.

It developed into a free for all with players arriving from all angles to add their tuppence worth to the battle.

It was very slow coming to an end and tended to break out again when one thought it was all over.

Eventually when peace was restored referee, Sean Bradshaw, singled out two players from each side for red card treatment, Lenny Leahy and Barry Grogan from Lattin Gaels and Barry Shortall and J. J. Cooney from Rockwell Rovers.

The game was a tight affair with Lattin Gaels opening up a five-point lead early on but Rockwell Rovers hauling themback to a 1-5 to 0-8 score at the interval.

In the second-half it remained close with Rockwell Rovers going into a lead with a Pat Hally goal in the twenty-fifth minute. However, Lattin Gaels responded with a goal a minute later and added two points to give them victory by 1-14 to 2-8.
