Next Sunday can be described as football day in South Tipperary with four Clonmel Oil Senior championship games together with two Clonmel Credit Union Intermediate championship ties down for decision. All senior games will have a 2 p.m. start.

In Ballylooby the clash of Ardfinnan and Cahir could be among the best games of the afternoon. Both sides have something to prove and need to get some points on the board.

When the teams met a year ago Ardfinnan scored a comfortable success but will find it harder on this occasion.

Commercials will have two teams in action in Kilsheelan. They face Swan in senior at 2 p.m. and Grangemockler/Ballyneale at intermediate level at 3-30. Swan disappointed against Clonmel Og in their opener and will have to improve dramatically if they are to gain a surprise senior success. On last year’s form little should separate the intermediate sides but Grangemockler might just be good enough to deny Commercials a double.

In Cloneen, Fethard and Mullinahone will be in opposition in senior and C.J. Kickhams club will be hoping that they can repeat a previous success against the Blues when previously in the senior grade.

The final senior contest will be between Kilsheelan/Kilcash and Killenaule in Fethard.

Kilsheelan were disappointing against Moyle Rovers but will improve but the odds favour Killenaule.

In intermediate perhaps the biggest attendance of the afternoon will gather in Clogheen at 3-30 for the clash of Ballylooby/Castlegrace and Ballyporeen. The experienced Ballyporeen will be favoured to take the spoils but much interest will centre on the performance of their opponents on their return to the grade after a long absence.
