Tipperary footballers may have already been relegated but they finished their National Football League Division 3 campaign in encouraging fashion with a 0-11 to 0-8 win over Offaly at Clonmel.

It was a good start to the new regime of Peter Creedon who has taken over as manager following the departure of Kerryman John Evans.

Tipp had drawn their previous game against Longford after losing all their matches prior to that and maintained the improved form against an Offaly side that also makes the drop to Division 4 as a result of the defeat.

Aherlow’s Barry Grogan was Tipp’s top scorer but there are fears he may be forced to emigrate to find work. Tipp were missing Brian Jones on Sunday who has left for the United States
