It’s been one of the most fascinating championships in many years and as the season draws to a dramatic conclusion, local fans can hear what some of hurling’s biggest names make of it all.

On Friday, August 23, at the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh, a ‘Hurling Night with the Stars’ will take place, at 8pm.

Hurling legends DJ Carey (Kilkenny), Nicky English (Tipperary), Anthony Daly (Clare), John Mullane (Waterford) and Conor Hayes (Galway) will take questions from the audience at an event facilitated by Sunday Independent Gaelic Games journalist Damian Lawlor.

All proceeds from the event go to the ‘Fix Crumlin’ campaign at the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation (CMRF) at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Entry to the event is €10, payable at the door, and a raffle will take place at half-time for some wonderful prizes.

This event is part of local journalist Jackie Cahill’s fundraising push for CMRF.

On November 3, Jackie will run the New York City Marathon to raise funds for CMRF.

The ‘Hurling night with the Stars’ will take place on the night before the Bord Gáis Energy All-Ireland U21 hurling semi-finals.
