LIT Tipperary hurlers hoping for colleges glory

LIT Tipperary Hurlers have qualified for next weekend’s Ryan Cup, which is being held in Galway by GMIT as part of the Fitzgibbon Cup weekend.

LIT Tipperary Hurlers have qualified for next weekend’s Ryan Cup, which is being held in Galway by GMIT as part of the Fitzgibbon Cup weekend.

Led by Manager Brendan Maher and Captain Martin Fitzgerald, the panel are keen to add to the All-Ireland 3rd Level Colleges Division 2 Hurling League title they won last December.

The panel is drawn from 9 counties, with 12 Tipperary representatives on the panel.

The semi-final will be played against Queens University Belfast at 11.30 am on Friday, March 1 in Kenny Park, Athenry.

The final will be played in Pearse Stadium at 12pm on Saturday, March 2. This will be followed by the Fitzgibbon final at 2.30pm.

The team is managed by Borrisoleigh’s Brendan Maher and assisted by Toby Kavanagh, Fr. Jimmy O’Donnell and Wayne Fanning and are sponsored by AIB. In confident form, the team are hoping to bring a second Ryan Cup title back to Tipp - good luck to all concerned!
