Historic home debut worth the wait for Cashel Schoolgirls
It has been a while coming and has taken a huge amount of work to get here, but Cashel Town Schoolgirls FC will make their home debut next Sunday morning (October 21st) in Scoil Chormaic and hope that a big crowd will come out to see the effort that they have put in to showcase schoolgirl soccer in the area.
They can promise a spicy encounter, with a guaranteed home win, as the first ever game will be a “derby match” between Cashel’s two under 12 teams, the Rebels and the Rockets.
This fixture, thrown up randomly by the league, probably epitomises how successful the club has been, and continues to be.
Despite this being the first year the club dipped its toe into entering the schoolgirls league in South Tipperary, almost 60 young girls are registered and the club is by far the biggest in the league already. So much so, it is the only team that has entered two under 12 teams in the juvenile division, and they will battle it out in the first game Sunday morning at 11am.
The Rebels are made up of the younger players in this age group, and will no doubt want to put one over on their older counterparts, who began their campaign in style with an away win a fortnight ago.
This is definitely not one to be missed so get there early.
Straight after this game finishes, the Cashel Town u14s make their home debut against Burncourt Celtic.
These girls were also very impressive in their first game, also winning away, and will be dark horses to take league honours in their first season.
The team already has two girls who have played with the county emerging talent squad, and on their performances already, we are confident that even more will be wearing county colours in the very near future.
Then, as a special dispensation from the league, because the three league teams are all at home for the first time, the league has giving permission for the club to host an u10 blitz after the u14 game.
These are our girls of the future, and range from six years of age to nine, with a dazzling array of talent amongst their ranks.
There are some absolute diamonds in this group, who play their soccer with an enthusiasm that is hard to fathom.
They are the pride and joy of the club and should not be missed by anyone who likes to be entertained with good sport.
Every one of the young schoolgirls will be on the field this Sunday, for possibly the only occasion this year, and a feast of football is promised. Starting at 11am and going on into mid afternoon, we would ask as many people as possible to come down to the Golden Road and cheer on this fantastic group of young players.
