Referees support Concussion Awareness

Cashel Community school students are still leading the way when it comes concussion education.

Last year the students designed an innovative concussion logo for the school sports jerseys and the Tipperay Minor and Senior football team’s used it on their training gear.

The innovation has worked very successfully at school level, making both students and staff more aware of concussion management.

This year the students got a great boost when John Hadnett approached tthem expressing interest in adopting the concussion logo for the Tipperay soccer referees. The students presented their ideas to John and a large group of referees last year

It is great to see a recognised body outside of a school take interest in the students idea. The hope is that Tipperary will become a model of excellence for concussion awareness in sport . The students continue their work this year as part of the Young Social Innovators Programme, they are currently developing a website which will make their resources readily available to any school by the end of the year.

Their teacher Caitriona Ryan is very proud of their continued commitment and lauded the students dedication to such a worthwhile project .
