Barrier system begins in Mary Street car park next Tuesday

The new barrier system at the Mary Street car in Clonmel will come into operation from next Tuesday May 24.

The entry from Gladstone Street remains and the entry and exit onto Mary Street will be reversed as and from Tuesday.

A payment kiosk is provided in the centre of the car park, where tickets will be validated prior to exiting.

This allows shoppers to stay in the car park without being concerned about the time expiring on their parking ticket.

Charges remain the same for the first four hours at the hourly rate of €1.20 per hour.

The hourly rate varies after that and this is displayed within the car park.

A free circulation time of 30 minutes is available to every motorist from the moment they enter the barrier system to the time they exit it Monday through to Saturday.

This also applies to school drop-off and collection times.

The charges don’t apply on Sundays and after 6.30pm from Monday to Saturday. At these times, when a motorist enters the car park and takes their ticket from the entrance station, this ticket will be required to be inserted into the exit station when leaving.

As well as the provision of the barriers the car park has undergone enhancement works including new brick paving, improved public lighting, landscaping and resurfacing works.

The barrier system has been introduced in accordance with the Clonmel Town Parking Strategy 2013-2020.
