Carrick councillor complains at lack of dog fouling prosecutions

Council official says it's difficult to prosecute such cases

A Carrick-on-Suir councillor has voiced disappointment that Tipperary Co. Council hasn't brought any prosecutions against dog owners who fail to remove their pets poo from public paths.

"I have yet to see a dog fouling case brought to court yet it's rife on a lot of our nice walks, " Cllr Kieran Bourke complained at the monthly meeting of Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District's elected representatives.

A Co. Council Environment Department official attending the meeting responded that dog fouling incidents were very difficult to prosecute as it was difficult to obtain proof.
