Independent wisdom and foresight sought
In the 31-01-2013 issue of ‘The Nationalist’, Clonmel Chamber, in its beneficence, sought that Cahir should be aligned with Clonmel as one municipal district centre of County Tipperary.
As a Cahir citizen, I do not recall being canvassed prior to any such proposal.
Cahir has long been recognised as a crossroads of the South, and with Cashel, a premier tourist centre.
Smaller communities married to larger can suffer the fate of losing their assets where the common good becomes the good of the strongest.
The Local Electoral Boundary Commission must act with independent wisdom and foresight that can be seen to support the common good.
Revd Arthur Carter,
Cahir.
