Six intrepid members of Mid Tipp Hill Walkers took off and had a great trip to the Scottish Highlands last week.

Among the group were Joan Quinn, Eoin Wolahan, Ollie Walsh, Mary Power, Tom Russell and Dan Condren.

During the week in Scotland the Tipperary walkers did a series of big and moderate walks, taking in the walking and the stunning views at the Ring of Steall, the Aonach Eagach, Bidean nam Bean and the Lost Valley, the Robbers Falls in Glen Etive, the Pap of Glencoe, Meall Cumhann, and Carn Dearg and the Dog Falls in the Monadhliath Mountains.

With such an experienced group, each member of the Tipp group took turns to lead their fellow club memebrs on the walks, and with more snow than usual for May, there was plenty of challenge and lots of opportunity to practice and develop our mountaineering skills.

Evening times too were great fun and, with everybody returning safely, it was a great week.

Weekly Walks

Meanwhile, this coming Sunday, June 2, all of the club members will return to enjoying the usual weekly moderate and high level walks, which will leave from opposite the fire station in Cashel at 11am.

As always, new walkers are very welcome to join in. Just bring boots or strong shoes, warm clothes and raingear and a packed lunch. Also, having a change of clothes and footwear for after the walk is a good idea.

Rock Climbing

The Rock climbing season continues and anybody wishing to explore this sport should come along to Horse and Jockey on Tuesday evenings at 6.15pm.
