In keeping with tradition, the annual Mass at the Holy Year Cross overlooking Clonmel will be celebrated on the August Bank Holiday Monday.
The Mass will take place at 11am on August 4.
The Holy Year Cross was erected at Cnoc a Chomortais, or Scrouthea Hill, on August 20 1950. Since then the annual Mass has been a fixture in Clonmel’s calendar and draws large congregations to the hilltop, which is just over 1,000 feet above sea level. The Cross and the area around it are maintained by a committee based at the Old Bridge. All are welcome to the Mass.
