There is a new year treat in store for snooker fans as legend of the game Jimmy 'The Whirlwind' White is coming to Cahir to take on the best of local snooker talent.
On Monday, January 10, Cahir House Hotel will host a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see one of the greatest snooker players of our time in a local setting.
Jimmy "The Whirlwind" White, one of the greatest and most charismatic snooker players that ever picked up a cue, is known for his swashbuckling and lighting style of play. He has entertained millions of people over the last 20 years with his amazing skill on the green baize. He is coming to Ireland for just two nights and Cahir House Hotel are very fortunate to have secured one of these nights for the Tipperary area.
Jimmy will take on the best of local talent on the night who will be hoping to put one over on the Whirlwind, Some of those already lined up to play on the night include Freddie Chute from Thurles and Alan Cleary from Skeheenarinky. Both men are ranked within the top 50 in the country. The match up everyone will want to see will be the clash with twice Irish senior champion and semi finalist in the World Amateur Championships, Tommy Gleeson from Nenagh.
Organisers are also offering you a chance to play the snooker star - if you fancy your talents with a cue call David on (086)3076064.
On top of over 50 major wins worldwide Jimmy will always be remembered as 'the nearly man' when it comes to the World Championships, being in six finals but never winning one. He compensated somewhat for that last month when he beat Steve Davis in the final of the World Seniors championships to at last have the privilege of being called World Champion.
Tickets for this snooker event are limited. They are available from the Cahir House Hotel on (052)7443000 or by calling David at (086)3076064.
If anyone is interested in a chance to play Jimmy White please contact David.
Standard tickets cost E15 euro with VIP tickets priced at E50 (this includes a private pre-match reception with Jimmy, a guaranteed front row seat for the event and a 12 by 8 portrait photo with Jimmy, that will also be signed by him).
The Nationalist, in conjunction with Cahir House Hotel, are offering our readers a chance to win tickets to this very special evening.
