Car taken as homes burgled over holiday weekend

Burglars broke into homes in Cappawhite and Ballyclerihan and three shops in Carrick-on-Suir over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

A grey Peugeot 206 was stolen from outside a house that was burgled in Cappawhite around 4.20am last Friday morning. The burglars also stole a small amount of cash from the house at The Crescent in Cappawhite.

Investigating gardai have appealed to anyone, who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of the estate around the time of the break-in to contact Tipperary Garda Station at (062) 51212.

Meanwhile, three youths attempting to break into a house in Oak Park in Ballyclerihan at 8.35am last Saturday were disturbed by an occupant of the residence. They ran off without taking any property and escaped in a small dark hatchback car.

Gardai have urged anyone in the area of Oak Park last Saturday morning, who saw the youths and a car fitting that description to contact Clonmel Garda Station at (052) 6122222.

Meanwhile, gardai in Carrick-on-Suir are investigating burglaries at three shops in the town centre between last Friday and Sunday. Clothing and equipment was stolen in the night-time break-in.

Gardai declined to identify the stores but appealed to anyone to witnessed suspicious behaviour in the town centre over the weekend to contact Carrick-on-Suir Garda Station at (051) 640024.
